This personal landscape reflects Mila Renault’s journey from Brazil to Aotearoa. Like the flock depicted, she finds herself consistently looking for motion and travel in a wide sky, exploring the continuous search for home. Soft pinks, violet, and blue tones create a calm but deeply reflective mood, touching on the courage it takes to leave one place and settle in another. It speaks to the courage to leave, but also the courage to come back home and to feel part of a flock.
Ultimately, the piece captures the internal compass required to cross oceans and root oneself in new soil.
