Artist Bio
Alex Wilkinson stands at the heart of Mystery Creek Ceramics, with an ardent passion for nerikomi and creating both functional and aesthetically pleasing tableware.
For Alex, there’s something truly special about incorporating a beautifully handmade item into her daily kitchen activities. Through her work at Mystery Creek, she pledges to create lively, useful pieces that inject an element of fun and charm into the routine of daily life.
Alex began her adventure with clay in 2015, initially taking a course for beginners, which eventually led her to achieve an honours degree from The Waikato Institute of Technology, with a keen focus on sculpture & ceramics. Her creations have been featured in juried exhibitions across New Zealand, earning recognition in prestigious showcases in 2021, including The National Contemporary Art Award, Portage, Waiclay, The Molly Morpeth Sculpture Exhibition and the Diamond Jubilee Exhibition of the Ceramics Association of NZ. This journey underscores Alex’s commitment and contribution to the art of ceramics.
