Elemental Series #2 | Odelle Morshuis
Odelle Morshuis
$1,295.00
Figures hover between material and trace, emerging from a surface marked by weather, time, and erosion. What is solid begins to thin; what is drawn remains, lightly tethered to the ground.
This work speaks to the elemental forces that shape us — not only earth and water, but memory, movement, and passage. The human presence here is provisional, as if held momentarily before returning to the wider field from which it came.
Original Oil and wax on paper framed in a natural timber frame with engraved silhoutted figures on the glass. Note: The framed in situ images are of the actual frame.
Framed Size: 400mm x 500mm
Artist Bio
Odelle Morshuis is a Central Otago–based artist whose practice explores movement, time, and the subtle dynamics of human presence within shared spaces. Working across painting, mixed media, and sculpture, her work is shaped by observation, memory, and fleeting moments of experience.
Her imagery often suggests figures in motion or transition — layered, blurred, or partially obscured. Rather than fixed narratives, the work evokes psychological states such as connection, proximity, and absence, treating time as fluid and overlapping.
Morshuis’ restrained material approach leaves space for silence and gesture. Grounded in the Central Otago landscape, her practice invites slow engagement, offering moments of pause where movement, memory, and atmosphere quietly converge.
