Matamata-based glass artist Hilary Jowle’s practice explores landscape, memory, and the idea of what it means to call a place home. After spending 25 years living overseas, her recent work shows a renewed bond with Aotearoa—its natural spaces, gentle beauty, and the relaxed feeling that comes from familiar places. Jowle works mostly with stained art glass, creating carefully layered pieces that reflect both real scenery and deep personal meaning. Her art often draws from memories, family ties, and the small but important details found in daily surroundings.
