Artist Bio
Originally from Scotland, Martin Hill first worked with wheel-thrown clay in high school before moving to New Zealand in 2004 to pursue a career in visual arts, film, and animation.
During lockdown, inspired by the coastlines and landscapes around Wellington, he returned to clay — exploring natural forms through wheel-thrown and altered vessels, carving, and glaze.
There’s a quiet, tactile quality to these cups. Each one is shaped intuitively, in response to form and material, making every piece unique — designed to be held, used, and lived with.
